Charles Dickens 200th Anniversary Sale
Immerse yourself in the drama of Victorian life with our timely sale of Dickens DVDs and Blu-rays from just £5.99.
This February sees the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens, widely considered the greatest English novelist of the Victorian era. Responsible for some of English literature’s most iconic characters, Dickens' writings have proved irresistible to filmmakers for well over a century. To mark this special occasion we’ve brought together all the available Dickens film and TV adaptations and added in a few extra DVDs on the man himself.
Highlights include Dickens Before Sound, a feast of Dickensiana with surviving extracts from some of the very earliest film adaptations, David Lean's superbly atmospheric 1948 take on Oliver Twist, which gives tangible sense of the horror of Victorian slum life, as well as the BBC's vivid and compelling 2005 adaptation of Bleak House, hailed as one of Dickens' greatest novels.
Rummage through and find yourself a new favourite.
