The Artist triumphs at the Oscars
Two films about the origins of cinema strolled away with majority of the awards last night, with The Artist and Martin Scorsese's Hugo taking home five Oscars each.
It wasn't a draw, though, as The Artist's wins included three major categories – Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor – while Hugo's wins were mainly for technical achievements.
Despite the lack of obvious surprises – The Artist has been on a winning streak since Cannes last year - it's quite something for a silent, black and white film from France to be crowned Hollywood's favourite.
