Franka Potente, young German actress who became an international star after the surprise success of Run Lola Run, is to start filming her first film behind the camera this spring. The half-hour short will be a "a really classical silent film like from the beginning of the last century except for a little surprise at the end when a time traveller arrives in the film”, according to producer Stefan Arndt.

Run Lola Run’s director of photography, Frank Griebe, is to work on the film. Filming will begin in April, and the screenplay has been translated into English to appeal to the foreign market, and to attract actors outside of Germany.

Potente has won many German Best Actress awards in the past, and her Hollywood career is blossoming following her appearances in The Bourne Identity and its sequel, The Bourne Supremacy.
