Film Description
A 1949 John Argyle Production made at Merton Park Studios, The Case of Charles Peace was based on the true story of the Victorian burglar and murderer Charles Peace. Peace (played in the film by Michael Martin Harvey as a mixture of Robin Hood and the devil) was a respectable business man by day but a prodigious house burglar by night and known to be ruthless in killing anyone who stood in his way. His exploits gained him infamy and to a certain extent a mythology has grown up around him. This film follows the burglaries, murders and continual evasion of police that gained Peace his notoriety.
