Film Description
Anticipating future classics such as That Obscure Object of Desire, Susana is Luis Buñuel’s inventive remake of Alexander Korda’s 1929 film The Squall. It is a powerful, sexually charged melodrama that reveals just how easily unchecked eroticism can sever the supposed moral fibre of a community.
After escaping from a reformatory for delinquent girls, Susana finds shelter in the farmhouse home of a peaceful and contented family - where she gradually uses her powers of seduction to undermine the stability of the family and wreak emotional discord, pitting the men against one another and causing the women to despise her.
