Film Description
Charles Bronson stars in this television drama based on a real military operation carried out by Israeli commandos in the summer of 1976.
After an Air France jet carrying an international mix of passengers is hijacked by pro-Palestinian revolutionaries, it lands at Entebbe airport in Uganda, presided over by dictator Idi Amin. Most of the passengers are released, but the Israeli passengers, numbering more than 100, are held hostage. The Israeli government, refusing to negotiate with the hijackers, gives the go-ahead for a commando raid on the Ugandan aiport dubbed Operation Thunderbolt. What followed has gone down in history as one of the most daring rescue operations ever mounted.
Directed by Irvin Kershner, this Golden Globe winner grips to the very end. Its standout cast includes Peter Finch (as Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin), Charles Bronson and Martin Balsam.
