Filmed in 'glorious black and blue', this quintessential Russ Meyer movie is at last given an official DVD release. Three superwomen go-go dancers lead by dominatrix Varla (Tura Satana) tear around the Mojave Desert creating havoc, joyriding and kidnapping for kicks. After murdering a 'jock', Varla leads her crew to a remote shack where a crippled old man and his sons may be secretly sat on a fortune. The girls strut tall, order everybody around and talk real loud before a suitably hysterical ending. Whilst Meyer chose to explore more explicit material and bawdy humour in his later films, none have the verve and contagious carefree joys of this effort. Shot and edited like a modern pop promo, ignore the wafer thin acting and revel in one of the truly legendary cult films of the 1960s.
Film Description
Meyer's overheated tale of three thrill-seeking superwomen - belted, buckled and booted - who raise havoc at the desert shack of a redneck Nazi and his moronic son. Hysterical dialogue, hyper-action and pneumatic leading ladies are all in the mix in this 'ode to the violence in women'. Leader of the gang Tura Satana is now something of a post-feminist icon.
