MovieMail's Review
No doubt about it, says James Oliver, if you're in the mood, this is the best film ever made. 'Queen of Technicolor' Maria Montez takes the leads as the comely Tollea and her wicked sister Naja.
Cast good taste into the gutter! Sneer coldly at restraint! One of Hollywood's fruitiest fantasies finally arrives on DVD.
We begin on a tropical island somewhere in the Indian ocean. Today's the day handsome Ramu (Hall) marries the equally comely Tollea (Montez) but – oh dear – disaster strikes: Tollea is kidnapped and carted off to 'Cobra Island'. It turns out she's royalty – her twin sister Naja (Montez again) rules the place. But Naja is a thoroughly bad egg; the locals want regime change and hope Tollea will take over. Ramu and his chum Kado (Sabu) are on Tollea's trail but so is the evil Naja. Will our heroes prevail or will they end up sacrificed to 'King Cobra'?
It scarcely needs to be added that this is, if you're in the right mood, the greatest film ever made. Not, perhaps, the most respectable – there's a very good reason why so many commentators bandy the word 'camp' about when discussing it – but the most terrific fun: gaudy, silly and damn near perfect.

Film Description
A riotously camp Technicolor cult classic, Cobra Woman is set in the South Seas. Maria Montez stars as twin sisters who were separated at birth: Tollea, a sweet native girl engaged to marry an American (Jon Hall); and Naja, evil high-priestess of a human-sacrificing, snake-worshipping cult. When the island's volcano, Fire Mountain, erupts, the evil Naja decides to placate the angry volcano god by sacrificing her sister and her lover...
