Film Description

Wealthy, self-absorbed eccentric Sissy Goforth (Taylor) takes up residence on a secluded Mediterranean island where she writes her memoirs, flies into rages and screams at her servants. With her health failing, she drinks, pops pills and takes injections from a doctor to ease the pain. Then into her life comes a stranger (Burton) who manages to climb to her villa and introduce himself as a poet. Though attracted by the visitor she soon discovers that he is known locally as 'the Angel of Death' and has a reputation for appearing when wealthy women are about to meet their demise...
