Film Description

Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars was the start of the whole spaghetti western genre and Ennio Morricone's spare and evocative film score perfectly fits the mood. Just as The Magnificent Seven was Kurosawa Americanized, so is this an unofficial reworking of Kurosawa's Yojimbo. Clint Eastwood's stardom officially began here in his first big-screen starring role as the laconic, unnamed gunslinger who makes a financial killing by playing two feuding families off each other in a small western town.
