The Cabin in the Woods is the latest chapter in the remarkable career of Joss Whedon, one of the sharpest and most exciting screenwriters in the business. The brains behind TV hits Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse returns to the big screen with a unique horror comedy that will appeal to connoisseurs of pastiche and gore fans alike.
The less you know about the film, the more you'll enjoy it, suffice to say it follows the fate of five youths who decide to vacation in a remote cabin, where they fall potential prey to a malevolent force. So far, so predictable. Yet a parallel story to the horror shows a very different side to the narrative - and this is where the trademark Whedon brilliance kicks in, producing a wit to the genre piece that hasn't been seen since the scathing critique of George A. Romero's best work. Whedon and director/co-writer Drew Goddard never teeter into fanboy smugness, but hold a mirror up to the horror genre - and its audience - in a new and exciting way.

In it, five college friends arrive at a remote cabin in the woods for a weekend of partying, but soon discover that things are not at all as they seem. It may sound familiar, but it's not.
