Film Description

A fascinating, rich and intelligent version of Virginia Woolf's novel, Sally Potter's Orlando concerns the adventures of the eponymous gender-changing central character (strikingly played by Tilda Swinton), through the centuries as she goes in search of love, life and adventure.

A meticulously crafted commentary on all things English as well as being a wonderfully romantic tale, Orlando was revered by many feminist critics in particular, and was one of the most distinctive and satisfying British films of the 1990s.
