Film Description
Bob Marley's universal appeal, impact on music history and his role as a social and political prophet is unparalleled. His music and message transcend culture, language and creed and resonate around the world today as powerfully as when he was alive. Only a handful of musicians have ever achieved such an impact and Bob Marley, though his life was far too short - he died from cancer in 1981 at the age of just 36 - stands strongly among them. Kevin Macdonald's biographical portrait marks the first time ever that Bob Marley's family has authorised the use of their own private Bob Marley archives. The film includes interviews with the people closest to him including his son, Ziggy, and wife, Rita Marley. It also includes rare concert footage of Marley performing some of his biggest hits, including 'One Love', 'I Shot the Sheriff', 'No Woman, No Cry' and 'Jammin'.
