This official wartime Admiralty Training Film was originally shown to Second World War Royal Navy recruits!

In 1940, the Royal Navy was patrolling the North Sea in readiness for the onslaught of the Luftwaffe, both to defend the homeland and counter-attack. As part of the training of naval crews, it was imperative that the split-second identification of aircraft as either �friend or foe� had to become second nature. It was the difference between life and death.

The films in this compilation are the actual training films from 1940 that would have been part of the education of Royal Navy personnel. They are presented in the original sequence in unabridged form so that you can encounter them as through the eyes of trainee Naval Gunners in 1940. You will experience the very same instructional training films that gave a rookie his first taste of identifying the range of Axis and Allied aircraft that he might conceivably encounter in the early years of World War Two whether they be fighter, bomber or reconnaissance.
