Film Description
Legendary Scottish comedian Stanley Baxter is fondly remembered for his irreverent, risqué humour and wickedly funny impressions. No target was safe from Baxter’s sharply observed spoofs, and the lavish Hollywood-style production of his shows made for unmissable and highly memorable viewing throughout the 1970s and ‘80s. Baxter’s genius has been recognised in the form of several BAFTA awards, and he was the recipient of a lifetime achievement award at the British Comedy Awards.
This release brings together both half-hour series that Stanley Baxter made for LWT in the 1970s and early 1980s and six of his hour-long “Spectaculars” from the same period. All of the shows feature Baxter’s trademark sketches with some of his most memorable lampoons of TV institutions, venerable cultural figures, advertisements and film stars.
This set also includes two of his funniest films - The Fast Lady and Father Came Too!, both starring James Robertson Justice.
