Film Description
A chance enquiry to Chaplin's business manager and delicate negotiations with a film collector ultimately provided Kevin Brownlow and David Gill with a treasure trove of unseen Chaplin material - including out-takes, unused sequences, abandoned projects and many thousands of feet of rushes. The material has been meticulously crafted to give a unique insight into Chaplin as a filmmaker at work, rather than Chaplin the myth. The music is by Chaplin himself and Carl Davis, a frequent collaborator on projects by Brownlow and Gill.
