Orson Welles Films

Citizen Kane, Orson Welles' first publicly screened film, has repeatedly been chosen in polls as the greatest film ever made. However, Welles' career as a director was constantly hindered by budgetary constraints having failed to get in with the big studios of the time, and many of his projects never got off the ground. It was not until after his death that Welles received the critical claim he deserved and he is now widely acknowledged as a visionary and one of the most important dramatic artists of the 20th century.
