Vittorio De Sica Films
Although arguably a lesser light of Italian neo-realism when compared to the likes of Michelangelo Antonioni and Luchino Visconti, actor-director Vittorio De Sica did produce perhaps the finest example of that particular cinematic movement in Ladri di biciclette (The Bicycle Thieves in the UK, The Bicycle Thief in the US). A later work, La Ciociara (Two Women) garlanded international acclaim and an Oscar for lead Sophia Loren.
